Yesterday, my wife and I had to make the heartbreaking decision to say goodbye to our beloved dog, Dutchess. It was one of the hardest days we've ever faced, but we are so thankful we had the support of Dr. Wood and the team at Monterey Animal Clinic to help us through it.
Dutchess had been under Dr. Wood's care for many years, and we could not have asked for a more compassionate, knowledgeable, and dedicated veterinarian. He has always treated her like family, with patience, kindness, and an incredible level of care that gave us so much peace of mind over the years.
From the moment we arrived yesterday to the moment we left, the entire staff treated us with warmth, compassion, and respect. They created a peaceful space for Dutchess to pass with dignity and made sure my wife and I were supported every step of the way.
We are deeply grateful to Dr. Wood and everyone at Monterey Animal Clinic for the many years of exceptional care, and for the kindness they showed us when we needed it most. Your compassion will never be forgotten.

We LOVE Dr. Maldonado! She is so caring and thorough with our doggos. She takes her time and answers any questions we have. She truly loves the animals in her care. ❤️
Hands down the best experience I’ve had at a vet in a long time — for both me and my kitties. I grew up in a household where vet visits were kind of a last resort, but since moving out and my older cat, Tibb, getting sick... I decided to try Monterey Animal Clinic. I’m so glad I did. The entire team was kind, gentle, and genuinely caring.
Huge thanks to Dr. Maldonado — she was amazing with Tibb (who absolutely loathes vet visits and gets super stressed). She took her time, walked me through the process, and we were able to get a diagnosis of hyperthyroidism. I was able to call the front desk and ask questions throughout the week and got Tibb's medication set up to be compounded very quickly — everyone was very attentive and genuine.
More recently, I brought in my other cat, Clyde, for a check-up and vaccine update. I honestly thought he’d be a handful, but to my surprise, he was curious, calm, and seemed to enjoy the outing — especially all the attention and compliments he got (he's a little vain :P).
I honestly cannot recommend this animal clinic enough and it's a relief to know I have somewhere trustworthy to go.

It was a difficult time and news hard to swallow. The doctors were compassionate and very understanding answering all of our questions.
